Daycare - Only the hard ones survive

I’m not sure who suffers the most on a child’s first month at daycare. Is it the weeping child, the anxious parent, or the care provider trying to calm the child and the parent?

I can only speak from my perspective, and I’m gonna place my bet on – The parent.

Surviving First Day
Whether you are dropping your infant off for their first day ever away from the wicked awesomeness that is Mommy, or dropping your toddler off for their first day at a new daycare, the first day blows. The first time I dropped Ansh off at daycare, I sat outside his classroom and howled like a fat girl whose cake has been stolen... Read more

One year old - I'm a bag of mixed emotions

It’s been a year of this parenting gig. My baby boy is no longer an infant, he is now considered a “Toddler”. I never would’ve thought that I would be struggling with this wonderful milestone, especially since I have been planning his 1st birthday since we found out we were having a boy (or maybe even before I became pregnant ;)). Today, I received my weekly “baby-development” message from babycenter.ca saying, “It is perfectly normal for parents to feel a mixture of pride at seeing how far you’ve come and sadness at how quickly your little one has gone from baby to toddler.” I’m so glad that I still subscribe to these updates. Its messages like this one that ease my worry that maybe I haven’t gone completely mad. If this white screen were a piece of paper, it would have wet wrinkly puddles of tears on it.... Life with an almost one year old

Life with an almost one year old sure is busy.

Ansh is going through so many incredible changes. It’s an amazing age, yet challenging too. I can see his frustration with wanting to do so many things all at once, but not quite having mastered all skills yet. He loves doing things to get a reaction. He is easy going when being held by new people. On the flip side, he is learning to assert himself with mom and dad. He loves to put up a HUGE fuss when getting his clothes changed, face wiped, etc. It’s like end of the world dramatic.

The big one-oh!

A lot has changed this past month. He is mobile in every sense of the word! He can sit up from a laying down position (and that is his favorite thing to do when I lay him down for a nap), he loves to pull himself up to a standing position, he ‘tripod crawls’ all day long, quicker than I can chase him. He is so busy and into everything (especially wires, ropes, strings, anything handing and dangerous … lol). The other day, he was chewing on a piece of stem that he dug out of my flower pot; and the day before that, the tip of door stopper had to be pulled out of his mouth.... Read more

9 months already

I can’t believe you have officially been out of my tummy now longer than you were in it. When I look at your updates, you don’t even look like the same baby I brought back from the hospital. You are now a moving, babbling, crawling, busy almost- toddler. Some days I don’t believe it that I have a 9 month old. I feel your first birthday looming around the corner and it makes us ache. Watching each month pass is still bitter sweet. Watching you learn, change with each passing week is such a blessing. But packing up each box of little clothes that no longer fit you, makes me long for the days you were scrunched up like a little froggy newborn... Read more

8 months old! Happy tears!

I’m not sure how I thought any of the other stages were fun, because this is the best. Ansh and I have a new adventure every day. It’s like a giggle fest in our house these days. He is learning so much. He wants to play ALL the time. He is full of laughs and smiles and is our little daredevil explorer. I think I’m not biased when I say that he’s the most gorgeous baby in the world! Gosh, It’s hard to remember life before him... Read more

7 months. Sleep trained and potty trained

My baby is 7 months old. The number blows my mind. I remember reading other people’s blogs and thinking how big their babies were at 7 months. And here he is, exactly 7 months old, and yet he is still so little and at the same time so grown. I could never imagine myself as a mom to a 7 months old and yet in a blink of an eye, he is 7 whole months old!... Read more

Happy 6 months Ansh

So we just got back from our 2 month long vacation in India. Lots of “First time evers” happened on that trip. First airplane ride, first time meeting grandparents, first Diwali, first mosquito bite, first time fighting jet lag, first auto rickshaw ride…... and so much more. But another post will follow to talk all about the India trip, as I can possibly not fit all the expeditions in one post. There’s a lot to talk about. This post is only about Ansh's 6th month milestones.... Read more

My baby boy is 5 month old

I remember when Ansh was only a week old thinking about how I wish he’s stay this little forever, but I can honestly say that every month just keeps getting more and more fun. I’m really hoping this continues forever. Or until he turns 14 and inevitably decides that his mom is no longer cool. For now, I love (absolutely love) the way he looks at me, as if I’m his hero.My happy, sweet, adorable, lovely, darling baby boy is 5 months old. I’m going to freak out next month when he’s halfway to being 1 year old! I’m SO not ready for that... Read more

4 months old- adventures of Ansh and his mama

Before I had Ansh, I felt like I never had enough time to get it all done. Between work, dance class, community work, quilling, chores of everyday life, and spending time with family and friends…. My schedule was always packed. I couldn’t spare 10 minutes to take a shower. It looked like a waste of time to me.

When Ansh was born, I suddenly found myself knee-deep in diaper changes and marathon feeding session. I couldn’t imagine how I ever felt busy before. How much time I must have wasted, I thought. Watching television, spontaneous lunch dates with friends, lounging on the couch all weekend in my pajamas… what was I thinking?... Read more

Three months old, newborn no more

My little baby turned 3 months old this week and I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around this fact. When people tell you that time flies by, they’re most definitely not kidding. He’s gone from an adorable newborn to a little human that’s full of personality, the cutest smiles and little giggles. He is a fun addiction.
So much has changed over the past 3 months and every single one of those changes is for the better. Sure there’s less time for blogging, sleeping and doing my hair, but I’m so smitten with him, none of that matters. I’ll happily blog a little less, sleep for only about 5 hours, and step out with messy hair to spend just a little more time with Ansh.... Read more

Time, Please stop

WHAT? 2 months already? Time, please stop. Give me a chance to live every moment a 100 times.

If you are a new mom, you would know how difficult it is to take time out for yourself. Forget updating your blog, flossing your teeth seems like a luxury. Just brush your teeth and get done with it, you can sleep for additional 2 minutes. I have to cut down on my “non-existent” sleep time to update my blog... Read more

Just like that, one month already!

Well, I blinked and a month went by.

I haven’t had a chance to write an introductory post in this blog about my little snuggle bunny. Ansh (meaning: a part of your body) had 364 days to choose from, but he chose to be born on that one day he was asked not to. On his dad’s birthday (June 5th 2015). Clearly, he has a mind of his own.... Read more
