Crash course on India
 This wasn’t supposed to be a post, rather an email response to a few friends who plan on taking a trip to India soon. But since this response got a little too interesting and funny that I decided to publish it here.

Thanks to Slumdog Millionaire, people now think of India as a poor, populated, polluted, and corrupt country. Child beggars pulling arms of the people on the streets, a bridegrooms procession in midst afternoon with the mercury soaring at 42 degrees Celsius, blaring loud speaker in the night enough to tear one’s ear drums, crazy honking vehicles, little boys serving tea in dirty clothes, pirated DVDs and CDs selling in the open, choked-full buses and trains, cars parked in no parking ones, etc. No doubt Danny Boyle made a fortune out of the miseries of Indians, but he ignored the positive side of our lives.... Seattle and Starbucks - The relationship

So following the trend, we moved to Seattle a few months ago. Whenever I visit a new city, I tend to approach it with the only knowledge I have, and the only knowledge I have often revolves around a popular TV show or a movie. “So it rains all the time, people live in houseboats and ride ferry boats to work?” was my first reaction when Ashish told me that we are moving to Seattle. Cliché, I know. But Tom Hanks had convinced me that Seattle is all about gray skies and rainy days; and McDreamy rode Ferry boats and lived on top of beautiful green hills.... Read more





India Calling

 I have been homesick ever since I landed in Canada. But I somehow held strong for 1 year and 3 months (in my dictionary “strong” excludes, weeping 10 times a day on skype). After months and months of emotional tactics, buckets full of tears and countless threats, finally Ashish’s best friend’s wedding did the trick. And now, I am going to India. No matter how many times a day I say this, it still sounds as exciting and new as it did the first time. Or at least, the people in my office are polite enough to respond with same enthusiasm every time :)


I had forgotten what it felt like to be in a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd, deafening noises, and nonstop honking. I had forgotten the sight of cows and dogs napping in the middle of the road, and everyone driving around them.... Read more
