What’s happening around us right now, is so surreal. I feel like I’m in a post-apocalyptic movie and being filmed. Suddenly, the cast and crew will pop out of somewhere with their hidden cameras and tell us this was all a setup.
Come to think of it, a few weeks ago, life was pretty normal. Spring was on its way, trees were beginning to bloom, birds chirping. Dirty dishes left in the sink, still had me cringe. And today, these touch points of daily life are in sharp contrast with the overwhelming sense that our world is dramatically different.
Seattle is finally sunny, but not a soul on the streets to soak it. Empty playgrounds. Empty shelves in the supermarket. World running out of toilet paper( okay, this one, I still don't understand). No one want to touch anything for fear of becoming infected - the tables at a coffee shop, the handle of a door, the hand of a friend. Yet people still try to keep calm and keep up their spirits - only with added layers of precautions.
While, to many, it may seem like this new change has brought some much-needed break and stability to their fast-paced lives, it's true that it has also forced many to grapple with fears about the financial toll, lost jobs and shrinking businesses.
Every day I hear more and more small businesses having to shut down permanently and it breaks my heart. Small businesses operate on a tight margin. We rely heavily on everyday foot traffic. This COVID-19 pandemic situation has been catastrophic for them. Small businesses are the life and soul of a city. In the hustle and bustle of a large metropolitan city, a small business brings in calmness, character, and diversity. Please do not let them die. Today, we need your support more than ever.
Here are a few ways how you can support Live2Dance even while staying at home:
- Get Live2Dance class pass: If you’re a regular at Live2Dance, this should be a no brainer. And if you’re not a regular, maybe it’s time to get regular. We are offering 10 Class Pass and 20 Class Pass that can be used up to a year from purchase day. Choose any drop-in class from our curriculum.
- Leave a Review: Now is the time to use that freed up time due to Coronavirus to write a review for your favorite local businesses. Trust me, they appreciate it more than you can ever imagine. It’ll only take up 5 minutes of your time, but go a long way to help a small business. I’d request you can take 5 minutes out to leave us a review. Google review and Facebook review
- Social media shout-outs: A small business relies heavily on word of mouth. If you like what we do, if it brings a smile to your face and a skip to your step, please spread the word. Like, share, subscribe, follow our social media handles. Share stories or videos on social media and tag us. Anything helps. Here are our Instagram, Youtube and Facebook handles
